Quaker Parakeet - Medium - Adult - na - Bird - Teddy
Description
Teddy is a tame Quaker Parakeet who was born in 2004. Teddy is quite cage territorial and can be nippy, but with positive reinforcement training we feel that some of this can be overcome. Teddy loves to share a meal or drink out of his owner's glass. Teddy's situation is unfortunate, seeing that at age 1 he was relinquished to the rescue and has been through several foster homes in the last 4 years. Teddy can be a challenge and not many foster homes could handle him. We want Teddy to have a chance at a stable home. We are not giving up hope that someone who is patient and experienced with nippy quakers will be willing to give this little green bird a chance. Teddy's adoption fee is $50. Teddy has been in rescue since 6/9/05. *To adopt a bird you must attend bird care/behavior classes regardless of where you live. We only adopt within reasonable day's driving distance of the Eugene/Springfield area. We do not ship birds. At the class you can receive the name of the foster home that has the bird you're interested in and you can make an appointment with the home to do visits with the bird. Upon meeting the bird you can put in your application at that time if you choose and expect to attend an adoption meeting. Large birds and some small may have a probation period during which time you will serve as the foster home before an adoption will be finalized. There will be a home inspection for every adoption. If the adoption is approved, payment is then due and you can arrange to pick up your bird. There may be follow up phone calls from Exotic Bird Rescue after the adoption. Adoptions are not a first come first serve deal- we choose the most appropriate home for that particular bird.
